How much notice do you need?
For cupcakes with no customised decorations I need at least 48 hours notice and for customised cupcakes I need at least a week’s notice (depending on the complexity of the designs required). For celebration cakes I need at least 2 weeks’ notice but some dates get booked up quickly, particularly during wedding season so the more notice you give the better. I know sometimes there are last minute requirements so if you do need cupcakes within less time then please do contact me and I will do my very best to accommodate you. If I can help, I will!
Do you have a minimum order?
The minimum order is a gift box of 4 Classic Cupcakes, 6 Large Cupcakes or 12 Mini cupcakes. Large cupcakes come in multiples of 6 (for less than 24 cupcakes) and mini cupcakes come in multiples of 12 (for less than 60 cupcakes). I can do a minimum of 6 cupcakes per flavour.
Do you do customised cupcakes?
I love doing customised cupcakes and pride myself on making little edible works of art. All my decorations are handmade, none are store bought – making them completely unique and suited to you. Please get in touch with your ideas. I love a challenge!
I only want to buy a couple of cupcakes, do you sell them elsewhere?
Why yes, you should come and visit me at one of my many markets and events I do. Check out the Events page to find out more! There may be times when I am baking a lot of cupcakes and can do one extra in a special gift box for £4.00 but this is not guaranteed and subject to availability.
Do you deliver and how much is delivery?
Delivery is subject to availability. Delivery costs 60p per mile from AL4 9PE for the round trip. If you would like a delivery outside working hours (Tuesday to Saturday 10am til 5.30pm ) there may be an extra charge. You are however welcome to pick up the cupcakes from my premises. I can deliver all around Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas (again, subject to availability). Delivery is free within 5 miles of St Albans (AL4 9PE) for orders of £25.00 or more.
Can I pay when I receive the cupcakes?
A non-refundable deposit is required for all orders. This is to cover ingredients and supplies and is non-refundable. For orders over £25.00 payment is generally required in advance. For orders less than £100: payment is due 1 week before the date needed at which time it cannot be cancelled. For orders over £100: a 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure the order with the remainder due between one month and one week before the date needed (depending on how much notice is given for the order and what is required.) How do I pay? Can I pay over the phone?
At the moment I do not accept payment over the phone. You can however pay via paypal for orders under £25. I will send you an invoice via paypal and you can enter your credit card details online whether you have a paypal account or not. You can also pay by cheque (made payable to Lucy Clark), bank transfer/BACs or cash.
Can I hire a stand from you?
Yes! I have a variety of stands available from 2 tier ‘tea party’ stands, wire stands and large acrylic stands. Tea party and wire stands start from just £10.00 to hire (plus a refundable deposit of £20.00) and acrylic stands start from £20.00 to hire (plus a refundable deposit of £40.00). The stand must be returned to me within 3 days of the event in good condition or if it needs to be collected I charge a collection fee of 50p per mile for the round trip. A stand hire agreement is also required.
I am having an event (e.g. birthday party, wedding, corporate event), do you have a consultation service?
I have a free consultation service where we can discuss your needs and I can come up with a design for you. This applies to large orders only. I am happy to talk through any ideas you may have via email or over the phone of course. For more information on weddings please take a look at The Weddings Page . This service can also be adapted for birthday parties and other large events. As I do not have a premises these consultations can be held in your home or at a venue in St Albans.
Can you set up the cupcake tower?
I offer a set up service for only £10.00 and will happily come and set up the cupcakes for you so they look perfect and you don’t have to worry about the hassle of setting up!
I have an allergy, can you help?
I will do my best to accommodate your needs, just contact me with your requirements and I can let you know. Gluten free and nut free are not a problem. However my cakes are made in an environment where nuts/gluten products are kept and used so cannot guarantee the products are entirely nut free.
My cupcakes were damaged on the way home from collection, what can I do?
Once the cupcakes have left my hands I am not responsible for how they are transported or kept. I package the cupcakes well and advise them to be transported on a flat surface (such as the seatwell of the car) or to be held by someone else. It is up to you to drive carefully and to look after them! Please take extra special care when transporting the cakes to avoid disappointment.
How long do the cupcakes last?
The cupcakes last a good few days after baking if stored correctly. They should be kept in the box they are packaged in and stored in a cool, dry place. Do NOT keep them in the fridge unless it is very hot or I have specified otherwise and you have nowhere cool enough to keep them. Cakes begin to dry out in the fridge so it is best to avoid this when possible.
Do you do birthday cakes?
Although my speciality is cupcakes, I can also make birthday, anniversary and celebration cakes if needed. Please contact me for a quote. Prices start from £38 for an iced 6in sponge cake with basic decorations.
Do you provide cupcakes for trade?
If you run a cafe or are interested in selling my cupcakes on a regular basis at your establishment please contact me now for a quote.
